China’s Construction of World’s Biggest ‘Megadam’ May Be Cover For ‘Hydro Weapon’

Via the UK’s Daily Mirror, an article on how some consider China’s construction of world’s biggest ‘megadam’ to be a potential cover for a ‘hydro weapon’:

India fears a mammoth ‘megadam’ being built in China could be used as a ‘hydro weapon’.

The Chinese Communist Party has announced the construction of the world’s biggest dam on the Yarlung Tsangpo River, which flows through China and India.

China hopes the dam will solve its green energy problem and help it achieve its target of becoming carbon neutral by 2060, the Daily Star reports.

However, India is said to be terrified that China could build up a huge backlog of water behind the dam and then threaten to release it, devastating Indian communities.

Dr Ruth Gamble, a historian of Tibet and Himalayas at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia, said the fears are rooted in recent clashes between India and China.
